Namo Buddha Hiking
Namo Buddha is one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites in the world, located just southeast of Kathmandu. The Namo Buddha Hiking route, at an altitude of 2565m, takes you through the villages of Banepa and Panauti, which is a one hour drive from Kathmandu. The area is renowned for its well-preserved culture and traditions.
The hike takes you through beautiful Rhododendron bushes and offers views of sacred and ancient temples and monasteries, including the Namo Buddha Stupa, Indreshwar Mahadev Temple, and the Brahmayani Temple. The peaceful environment is punctuated by colorful prayer flags, adding to the spiritual atmosphere of the hike. The trail also offers views of the snow-capped Himalayas, making it a perfect destination for nature and culture enthusiasts alike.
The trek is also an opportunity to immerse in the culture of Tamang and Newari ethnicities and their way of life. The trail is well-marked and safe for hikers of all levels, making it a great option for those looking for a short, but fulfilling trek.
Day 01Drive from Kathmandu to Dhulikhel and hike to Namobudda / Overnight at monastery
Day 02Hike from Namobudda to Panauti and drive back to Kathmandu
