Everest (8848m) is the highest mountain in the world or the highest point on earth. Mount Everest is also known by the Tibetan name Chomolangma (Goddess Mother of the Snows), and by the Nepali name Sagarmatha (Mother of the Universe).Though several attempt were made for conquer Everest, it was only conquered and first scaled in 1953 by members of an expedition including Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. In life, and sometimes in death, Mount Everest has had a lasting effect on all of those who have challenged its heights.
