Although Nepal is a small country of around 141,000 sq km, it contains a huge variation in altitude - from the Terai at near sea level to the highest point on earth, Mt Everest at 8848m.

Nepal has now become a very exciting travel destination among the travellers around the globe and famous in the world as the country of Third pole where Lord Buddha "Gautama Buddha", the founder of Buddhist Religion, was born about 2600 years ago. Everest TrekkingNepal is situated between 800 4'- 800 12' east longitude and 260 22'- 300 4' north latitude. From south to north, you cross from tropical jungle, through the terraced hillsides of the Himalayan foothills, up through pine and rhododendron forests, to the peaks and glaciers of the Great Himalayan Range that form Nepal's northern border with Tibet. Geographically Nepal is divided into three regions known as, Himalayan region, Mountain Region and the Terai Region. Politically Nepal is dived into 5 regions, 14 zones and 75 districts.

Nepal’s climate varies with its topography. It ranges from tropical to arctic depending upon the altitude. The Terai region, which lies in the tropical southern part of the country has a hot, humid climate. The mid-land regions are pleasant almost all year around, although winter nights are cool. The northern mountain region around an altitude above 3,353 meters has an alpine climate with a considerably lower temperature in winter as can be expected.

Nepal’s population of over 25 million is made up of more than 60 separate cultural and linguistic group also known as ethnic groups living in different regions of the country under quite diverse geographic and environmental conditions, from the low plains near the Indian border, northward through the middle hills and valleys, and up to the flanks of the mighty Himalayan range. Mostly each ethnic group has their own unique costumes, speak their own languages or dialects, and observe their own religious practices. Nepali is the National language of Nepal and written in Devanagari script, which is also an official language however most educated Nepalese can speak and write English.

Visitor’s visa is required to travel Nepal and two month tourist visas are available upon arrival at the Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport. All communication services are now available in Nepal’s cities and some rural villages as well. Public offices featuring telephone, FAX, Email, and the Internet are easy to find.
