I and my friends (from Ukraine) were in 2008 and 2010 Nepal. We walked tracks around Anapurna , then to Everest. Shiva Silval and his firm helped us in these visits. They provided us travel, hotel, porters and guides. We had excellent service and thankful. We think about a new mission to Nepal and hope on old friends. Igor
My family, friends and I visited Nepal in autumn of 2009. We spent 2 weeks exploring Kathmandu and pokhara and another 2 weeks trekking in Everest region. Highly recommend. Nepal is a beautiful country and what is lacking in comfort and service is fully compensated by natural inspiring beauty and very welcoming and friendly local people. All our transfers and accommodation was handled by a company managed by Shiva that my family used on their previous visit to Nepal. Everything that was asked for was delivered according to an agreement made well a few months in advance via e-mail. We were met at the airport and brought straight to hotel. Rooms were small, basic and cheap but fairly clean and 5 min walk from Main Street. We were provided with a fantastic, very knowledgeable tour guide for 2 days who showed the best Kathmandu has to offer. on a downside as a time went by we have learnt one of main rules (by trials and errors) that one needs to be very clear on every detail of what you ask (if you have got high expectations but its probably had more to do with a clashes of culture between west and east) and you get what you have paid for (as anywhere else in a world:)) so no news here:)).
We have been lucky enough to squeeze in to experience a Nepal rafting (that was also organized by Shiva) that appeared to be a pleasant and exciting break from our 7 hours drive from Kathmandu to pokhara. That trip was a bit of an ordeal but it did make it a just bearable in a way of magnificent views, peeking at everyday life of ordinary Nepalese and a visit to a village where our host was from. So if one does fancy a road trip and have a fear of local airlines :)) and not much cash to splash on air trip (and there are more than 5 people) it might worse to pay a bit extra to get a van with air-con. We did not!!!
Also for our trekking part we have used a mountain guide Krishna Poudel recommended by Shiva and my friends and I can not thank him enough for finding so fantastic person. It is so rare to find such people nowadays as Krishna, the guide who organized all our permits, accommodations and took really great care of all of us. We are hoping to be able to come back to Nepal one day soon to see more of that different in so many ways. Country. katya, of Kiev, Ukraine - Manchester, UK
Dear team, Many thanks for all your support during my visit to Nepal. You provided exceptional contact during the visit and went out of your way to make the visit a success. When problems occurred affecting the schedule(landslides) you provided options and a means of dealing with these problems quickly. The Visit was arranged by 'Across Himalaya Company'. The team of the company provided a well designed programme.
Sures is a very nice and kind guide and we are very pleased with his doing. He is very polite and he took care about us, especially about me with my illness. We recommend him very highly for being guide to other people.
Something about the trek:
-Our start to do the Manaslu Round was too early, especially this year. -We met many people, who came back on the way, because the pass was not being passed -Some lodges on the way in the higher areas (3800-4800m) are still closed for winter time. -So a lodge trekking was not possible at this time.
