What is Trekking?

Trekking, hiking or walking holidays or means to walk with a backpack in a remote or a wilderness or off-the-beaten-track area. Participant of Trekking can be either solo or part of a group. Trekkers set out to follow pre-organized or negotiable tracks with an object and arrive at a destination within the scheduled timeframe. Sometime trekking is also considered a form of exploration on foot. The adventure trekking is aimed to complete a pre determined circuit successfully and being safe. This is why some degree of navigation skill is required, particularly if the participant is solo. The duration of walking or trekking can be anywhere from a couple of hours to couple of weeks or even a month. The word ‘trekking’ might have different meanings to different people but in common 'trekking' is a fairly general term but related disciplines include hiking, bushwalking, tramping, hill walking, fell walking and backpacking. Trekking is a common activity that anyone can start with only a minimal of gear and experience. Lately trekking in the Himalayan regions of Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan is fairly being popular since it gives an unforgettable lifetime experience and hundreds of thousand trekkers around the world explore these areas every year.

Trekking in Nepal & Himalayan Regions

The Annapurna, Everest and Langtang are the most popular trekking regions in Nepal. The Rolwaling, Makalu and Dhaulagiri regions are not less beautiful and adventurous indeed these routes offer an extra ordinary experience. Trekking to the forbidden kingdom of Upper and Lower Dolpo, glorious Kanchenjunga, marvellous Manaslu and miraculous Mustang regions are among the most rewarding trekking regions in Nepal. Besides this Trekking to Ganesh Himal, Rara Lake, Simikot, Arun Valley and other region are not less fascinating and adventurous. For those who have short amount of time and still would like to test the trekking in Nepalese mountain, a trek around Kathmandu valley such as Shivapuri Trek, Kakani Trekking, Namobuddha Trek and Nagarkot Dhulikhel excursion are another options.
