Rara Lake - "The biggest and deepest fresh water lake"
The Rara Lake Trek leads to Rara Lake in Rara National Park. Rara National Park is the Nepal’s smallest park, and is located around 370 km northwest of Kathmandu in the mountainous Mogu district of western Nepal. In the coniferous forests, there are Himalayan black bear, musk deer, and other wild life. The national bird of Nepal, Impeyan, lives in this area along with pheasants, doves and Kalij. Snow trout and various kinds of fish inhabit Rara Lake. At Chuchemara Dauda, at an altitude of 4087 m, we can get magnificent views from above of the deep blue clear lake, the surrounding wooded hillsides as well as the gorgeous snowcapped peaks nearby.
Rara Lake itself is at an altitude of 2990 m and over 10.8 square km in size. The lake mirrors the surrounding mountains. There are more than 500 varieties of beautiful flowers and herbs including the national flower of Nepal, rhododendron, oak, West Himalayan spruce, black juniper and Himalayan cypress. Rara National Park is also home of more than 214 species birds and more than 20 different kinds of mammals as well. After reached spectacular Rara Lake we return to Jumla crossing the gorgeous passes to Nepalgunj and then fly to Kathmandu.
Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Nepaljung overnight stay in Nepaljung at Hotel/lodge.
Day 02: Nepaljung - Fly jumla - Danphe Lagna (3300m) Can enjoy with grate views of Sisne Himal, Dudu Kundari Himal and other unnamed mountains.
Day 03: Danphe Lagna - Chautha (2770m) The trails descend gently alongside the stream to two tea shops with Tharamara (3280m) and the descending more steep passing through fir,Birch, and walnut and bamboo forests, after crossing a bridge at 2680 meter
Day 04: Chautha - Dhotu (2380m) The Rara National Park entrance station at 3130 meter,Ghurchi Lagna pass (3450m) which is covered with an assortment of chortens (round stone Buddhist monuments) and different colorful prayer flags. From the pass the route descends gently at first before dropping down precipitously through spruce forests. The path level at about 2900 meter and continues more or less level to the small settlement of Dhotu were our camps.
Day 05: Dhotu - Rara Lake (2980m) From Dhotu, we traverse steep north facing slope and cross a series of fields down to a small stream. Crossing the bridge, we climb up to the Thakuri village of Jhyari (2630m). From Jhyari, we climb steadily up through cedar forest to a huge meadow atop a 3050 meter ridge with great overhead views of Rara Lake,
Day 06: Rest Day in Rara Lake (2980m) Rara Lake is the largest lake in Nepal almost 13 km around the lake and A day has to walk and it is designated a national park in 1975, this region offers remoteness and a wilderness experience like birds, flowers and wildlife thrive, among the Mammals in this region are Himalayan bears, musk deer, and red Pandas etc. It is 170 meter deep.
Day 07: Rara Lake - Gorosingha (3190m) From the bridge at the western end of Rara Lake the trail will follow the Khatyar Khola River. We will keep following this river slowly descending before us Climb out following a small trail surrounded by pine, spruce and rhododendron Forests.
Day 08: Gorusingha - Sinja (2440m) The route keeps heading down the Ghatta valley from Gorosingha following.The Sinja Khola River downwards to Sinja, from the 12th to 14th century, Sinja Was the capital of the Malla dynasty that ruled western part of Nepal. The ruins of the old palace can be seen across the river.
Day 09: Sinja - Jaljala Chaur (3270m) From Sinja, the trail crosses the Sinja Khola on a wooden cantilever bridge. After passing few small villages, the trail crosses back and forth across the river on a series of quaint log bridges, Most of the trek is through forest of Pine, birch and oak and fields of barley and corn, then the trail make a steep Climb to Jaljala Chaur, a gigantic meadow full of horses.
Day 10: Jaljal Chaur - Jumla (2370m) Keep climbing through forest to another meadow, just below the ridge at 3510m, then a trail descent to Jumla.
Day 11: Jumla to Nepalgunj by fly and same day drive to Kathmandu by bus/car/van or 40 min by fly to Kathmandu.
