Island Peak Climbing

Island Peak is an pleasurable climb the peak, also provides some of the most striking scenery in the go on board on a magnificent exploration with Island Peak climbing and trekking that takes you into the heartland of the Khumbu, Gokyo (4,750m) and Everest Base Camp (5,357m). Located on top of the Chukung glacier between Ama Dablam and Lhotse Mountains, Island Peak is the most sought after trekking destination because of its challenging geographical conditions. If the peak can be likened to an Island in a glacial sea, than the main land forms a semicircle of cliffs that rise in the north to the rugged summit of Nuptse ( 7879m), Lhotse ( 9501m), Lhotse middle peak( 8410m), as yet still unclimbed and Lhotse Shar ( 8383m). To the east, rising above the frozen waves of the Lhotse Shar glacier, is Cho polu( 6734m), beyond which can be seen the red granite mass of Makalu ( 8475m). To the south of the Imja glacier and icy flutings of Baruntse (7720m) and the Amphu peaks lead the eye to the lofty pinnacle of Ama Dablam ( 6856m), which is liked a giant sea – stack guarding the entrance to the glacial bay in which Island peak stands.

The magnificent views from the summit, however, are certainly a fitting reward for your efforts. Before climbing Island Peak .The mountain was named "Island Peak" in 1952 AD due to its striking location in the middle of the Chhukung valley, like an Island on a sea of ice. It was renamed "Imja Tse" in the early '80s, though its original name is still more popular. From the Base Camp, it may take two or more days to scale the peak depending on weather conditions. Experience tells us that it is better to spend two nights at the base camp for acclimatization and training and then attempt the Island summit (6,189m) in one push directly from the Base Camp. The journey begins from and comes to conclusion at one of the most famous airstrip in the world, the Lukla Airport in the Everest Region. We trek up the Dudh Kosi valley from Lukla, passing through Namche and Tengboche on our way to Kala Pattar and Everest Base Camp. After being rested and feeling physically fit and acclimatized, we then head up the beautiful Imja Khola valley towards Island Peak.
