Chulu West Peak Climbing

Chulu West Peak climbing one of the popular trekking in peak Annapurna region, Two Chulus (East and West), Chulu west is the higher Peak. It was first ascended in 1952 by a Japanese Expedition. The base camp of this peak is situated in a small valley north of Manag, off the main trail to the Thorang La (5416m). There is a controversy regarding the name and location of the Chulu Peaks, there are several peaks close by and are also a part of Chulu massif but are not indicated in the map. Thus it is difficult to differentiate between the two Chulus. Chulu west may also be called an Chulu Central. There is no technical difficulty in ascending this peak but the progress can be slow as the slopes are vulnerable to avalanches in certain conditions.

Chulu West Peak Climbing Chulu west peak climbing commence from Beshi Sahar after 5-6 hour drive from Kathmandu. The district headquarters of Lamjung a neighboring district of Gorkha. From Beshi Sahar the trail leads up slowly towards Manang valley, one of the highest valleys of the world situated at an altitude of 5000m. One-day rest will be set to explore the Manang Valley and for the acclimatization. From Manang valley the route heads north to lead and on to the Chulu West Base camp. Itinerary of Chulu West Peak Climbing

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu transfer to Hotel
Day 02: Full day guided sightseeing-visit Kathmandu valley main sightseeing spots
Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Dumre and then follow the narrow and paved road by the Marshyangdi River to Besisahar (823m.) It takes almost six hours, and stay at teahouse lodge
Day 04: Trek from Beshishahar to Bahundanda (1305m.) the first part of the trail passes thorough flat level along the bank of the Marshyangdi River and stay at teahouse lodge
Day 05: Trek from Bahundanda to Chamje (1410m.) which takes 6/7 hrs. / stay at teahouse lodge
Day 06: Trek from Chamje (1410m.) to Dharapani (1960m.) which takes 6/7 hrs. / stay at teahouse lodge
Day 07: Trek from Dharapani to Chame (2675m.) which takes 5/6 hrs. / stay at teahouse lodge
Day 08: Trek from Chame to Pisang (3100m.) which takes 5/6 hrs. /stay at teahouse lodge
Day 09: Trek from Pisang to Manang (3440m.) which takes 5/6 hrs. / stay at teahouse lodge

Day 11: Trek from Manang to Yak Kharka (4350m.) the trail ascends gently all the way to Yak Kharka passing through the Gunsang (3960m.) village which takes 4/5 hrs. / Stay at teahouse lodge
Day 12: Trek from Yak Kharka to Chulu West Base Camp (4700m) you ascend the rocky and dry land all the way which takes 4/5 hrs. / overnight at tented camp
Day 13: Trek from Chulu West Base Camp to Chulu West High Camp. The path is steep up all the way which takes 3/4 hrs. / overnight at tented camp
Day 14: Trek from High camp to summit the peak and back to high camp which takes 3/4 hrs. / overnight at tented camp
Day 15: Trek from high camp to Yak Kharka which takes 3/4 hrs. / Stay at teahouse lodge  
Day 16: Trek from Yak Kharka to throng phedi which takes 3/4 hrs. / Stay at teahouse lodge  
Day 17: Trek from Phedi to Thorong-la (5416m) passes and spend night at Muktinath which takes 8/9 hrs. / Stay at teahouse lodge  
Day 18: Trek from Muktinath to Marpha. Marpha is known as apple capital of Nepal where you can see Apple brandy factory and monastery which takes 3/4 hrs. / Stay at teahouse lodge  
Day 19: Trek from Marpha to Ghasa which takes 5/6 hrs. / Stay at teahouse lodge   
Day 20: Trek from Ghasa to Tatopani (tato Pani Mean’s hot water where you can get enjoy from real natural hot spring.) which takes 4/5 hrs. / Stay at teahouse lodge   
Day 21: Trek from Tatopani to shikha which takes 4/5 hrs. / Stay at teahouse lodge   
Day 22: Trek from shikha to Ghorepani which takes 3/4 hrs. / Stay at teahouse lodge   
Day 23: wake up early in the morning and walk up to the Pun Hill (3210m) to see the sun- rise view. Pun Hill is the best view point. After Pun Hill back to the hotel take B/F and trek to Tikhedhunga which takes 5/6 hrs. / Stay at teahouse lodge  
Day 24: Trek from Tikhedhunga to Pokhara which takes 5/6 hrs. / Stay at teahouse lodge  
Day 25: Rest day in Pokhara or free for personal activities- sightseeing, shopping and visiting Lake Side market etc.
Day 26: Early in the morning, Drive or flight from pokhara to Kathmandu stay in hotel
Day 27: Free day in Kathmandu for personal activities or join onward program or final departure
